Description
Anubias nana: compact greenery for your aquarium
Add rich green colour and natural detail to your aquarium with Anubias barteri var. nana. This compact, slow-growing aquatic plant is well suited to the foreground and looks particularly attractive attached to driftwood or rocks.
Its low light and COâ‚‚ requirements make it a practical option for beginners and aquarists who prefer less demanding plants. The sturdy leaves provide a pleasing contrast to finer foliage in a planted aquarium.
Supplied in a Tropica 1-2-Grow! cup
This Anubias nana is supplied as a tissue culture plant in a closed cup. Its small size makes it useful for adding detail around hardscape or filling a carefully chosen space in your layout.
How to plant Anubias nana
For the best effect, attach the plant to a piece of aquarium wood or rock. Fishing line can hold it in position while the roots establish a grip.
Avoid burying the rhizome — the thick stem from which the leaves and roots grow. Covering it with substrate can cause it to rot.
Simple care and steady growth
Anubias nana grows slowly, so give it time to establish. Its long-lasting leaves can develop algae, making a balanced lighting routine preferable to excessive light.
Pair it with other aquarium plants to create layers of colour, leaf shape and texture. For help getting started, explore our aquarium plants for beginners guide.
